Gardening by Heart

Daylily 21, Joan Z. Rough, Copyright 2006

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow
circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace. The garden door is always open to the holy.

I so often feel that I need to be slowed down and forced into patience. Art - writing, music - can do that too, I think, at least for me. Somehow I become awfully impatient with gardening (and sewing!) I love this image though - the beauty of it slowed my breathing right away. Ahhh...

A touching post. I know what you mean about trying to center your thoughts. Best of luck to your mother as she continues to overcome.
